Tomorrow: Dave Harvey

Tomorrow morning we will welcome the last of our guest speakers this summer.  Dave Harvey will be joining us and will be preaching about the Great Commission from Matthew 28.  Chris McCrea will be leading us in our time of singing.  Plus, tomorrow is Move Up Sunday for all of our children!  We’ll allow a little extra time to get all the kids into their new classes for the year.

We look forward to being together as a church family.  See you tomorrow!

Why a Blog?

How many of you check blogs regularly? I do.  However, I have dramatically limited the amount of blogs that I check out.  This is not because I’ve become disinterested in bloggers or their bloggings, but because I don’t have the time to follow them all!  I have been forced, like many of you, to find the blogs that are useful, informative, and encouraging and only occasionaly foray out into broader blogland to see what is going on in the lives of friends or family.

So, while we don’t assume  that our  ramblings will make it to your list of “blogs I check regularly” we do hope that this blog will be useful, informative and encouraging to the members of SGC.  We plan to write posts that give information about our church, thoughts about our study, reports ohands-on-keyboardf God’s activity among us as a church, as well as ways we are seeking to apply the gospel to our lives.  In short, we hope to have one more avenue of connection with the dear people of our church for the purpose of encouraging you in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Communication in the 00′s is amazing.  We have blogs, facebook, twitter, emails, cell phones, text messages, and more all helping us to communicate with one another at unprecedented speeds.  I close with the words from Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

May this be true of all of our lives as well as the content of this blog in the days to come.

Check back soon!
